 Extreme Appetite and Weight Problems
Many of the quitters don’t gain weight. Never the less, there are some who even lose
weight after quitting smoking. But there are some people who gain weight. This happens
for a few reasons:
- When the smoker stops smoking, the areas of tasting in his mouth, which lost their
sensitivity, are revived and restored. This returns the ability to enjoy the
delicatessens of the kitchen and increase the appetite.
 - After quitting smoking there is a tendency for activity and liveliness. The person
suddenly finds out that energy accumulates within him. That energy burns more calories,
so he tends to eat more.
 - There are some people, especially those the cigarette were their psychological
support, who are attacked by a strong desire to eat as a replacement for cigarettes.
 - Fattening, especially in the stomach area, might even be the cause of exaggerated
drinking.
 - This phenomenon is partly caused, probably, by the disposal of the poisonous
effects of the cigarettes’ smoke from the digestion system and from the central nerves
system. Ignore the fattening problem in the first days of the quitting. After two weeks
from the day you’ve stopped smoking you can spend some time working off this problem
too, if it’s worrying you too much. You can overcome the fattening problem with an
alkaline diet based on a menu which contains mainly vegetables, fruits and milk
products and almost no meat, bread, eggs and fish.
