Letter #1

Having been told by my doctor yesterday that I have emphysema -- and I 

have NEVER EVER SMOKED, I am so very angry at the whole society of 

smokers.  I am in my 40's, which makes me old enough to have been in the 

work force before there were no-smoking controls.  And I was married for 

10 years to a smoker, who didn't think his smoking would hurt anyone if 

it was kept in the basement.

Even though the doctor says my emphysema is minor and won't hurt me, 

he's told me to work to expand my lung capacity.  And on top of the 

asthma I developed only 10 years ago, at the tail end of my marriage to 

Evil-Smoker-Dude, I don't feel very secure.
