Subject: Film makers are glamorizing smoking
Did you see the 60 Minute program two weeks ago? It showed how the six
major film studios (including Disney) are glamorizing smoking. Even
worse they openly admit they are doing it, and they realize it will
hook children because many children's role models are are being
potrayed as "cool rebels" by smoking. I think there is something that
can be done about it that will stop these hypocrites from making
cigaretts and cigars look cool. (These are the same Hollywood types who
protest against using animals for medical research and who speek out
loudly for more government spending on AIDS). Yet they produce and act
in such film as Independence Day, Chrimson Tide, etc. that galmorize an
act that kills over 400,000 people in the US alone each year, eight
times as many as were killed in Vietnam in 10 years.
I am talking about non-violent protest in movie theaters. Do you know
any organization that has may be interested in such an approach?
Regards, Jim
